Private-equity firm 3G Capital announced Thursday that it intends to name its Partner Bernardo Vieira Hees as chief executive officer of Burger King Holdings, Inc. (BKC), following the completion of the acquisition of the hamburger chain. The transaction, agreed upon a week ago, is expected to close in the fourth quarter this year.

Book publisher John Wiley & Sons Inc. Thursday reported a 64% surge in profit for the fist quarter of fiscal 2011, helped by revenue growth and lower foreign exchange losses. The results for the quarter also included a deferred tax benefit. The Hobokern, New Jersey-based company also confirmed its fiscal 2011 outlook.

Kazakh mining group Eurasian Natural Resources Corp. Plc Thursday stated that it has noted recent statements by its rival miner First Quantum Minerals Ltd. in connection with ENRC's acquisition of a majority interest in copper and cobalt project Camrose Resources Ltd. Rejecting First Quantum's allegations, ENRC said it "will defend its legal position vigorously" if any proceedings are issued against it.
